Three cheers for the red, white, and blue

Patriotism, whether it is authentic or simply discrimination disguised as love for your country, is why Trump may very well win in 2024.

If you are like me, you are experiencing a sickening deja-vu as you watch Trump continue to lead in polls despite all of his nonsense and evil behavior. Last time I just kept telling myself that reason and logic would prevail. And we all know how that turned out.

To this day it is still very hard for some of us to figure out exactly how he won then and why he may very well win again now.

Well I think I might have come up with something.

When I think about the people leading the charge for the extreme Right, I envision a group of people constantly putting their own wants ahead of the needs of others. I see them as decidedly un-democratic and not in the least bit concerned about equity, equality, or the notion that every citizen should have a voice. So many things they promote fall into this view — restricting voting rights, banning abortion, decreasing taxes for the rich, etc., etc. All evidence tells me that these folks are not interested in the story book notion of what America is supposed to be all about.
